The word ‘Biology’ is derived from the Greek: ‘bios’ means life and ‘logos’ means knowledge.
Riding on the new big wave of Life Sciences, learning Biology is more enriching than ever. The syllabus is constantly reviewed to meet the evolving needs in the field. Through organising enrichment programmes, such as Laboratory Enrichment Programme in Ngee Ann Polytechnic, students are given opportunities to discover more marvels in Biology and the possible job opportunities related to Biology.
Although Biology is not a pre-requisite for Biology-related courses in Polytechnics, it provides students with foundational topics which will give them a head-start during their post-Secondary courses, especially in junior colleges.
With the launch of the Institute of Bioengineering and Nanotechnology in Biopolis, we need a paradigm shift in the preconception that studying Biology is only for being a doctor. During the course of studying Biology, students will be enlightened on the various exciting job prospects pertaining to Biology, especially in the research field.
Welcome to the amazing world of Life!
